திருப்பூரில் 729 சாயமேற்றுதல் மற்றும் பிளீச்சிங்க் யூனிட்டுகள் மூடப் பட்டிருப்பதை, தமிழ் மக்களின் கவனத்திற்குக் கொண்டு வரும் நோக்குடன், சாயப்பட்டறை நிறுவனர்கள் இணைந்து ஓராயிரம் பேரை திருப்பூர் சட்டப்பேரவைத் தொகுதியில் நிறுத்துவது என்று முடிவு செய்துள்ளதாக டெக்கன் கிரானிக்கிள் சென்னைப் பதிப்பின் 19 032011 நாளிட்ட இதழின் 6ஆம் பக்கச் செய்தி தெரிவிக்கின்றது. இதற்காக 350 வேட்பாள்ர்கள் இனங்காணப்பட்டு, தெரிவு செய்யப் பட்டுவிட்டதாகவும், திருப்பூர் தொழிற்சாலை பாதுகாப்புக் கமிட்டி தெரிவித்துள்ளது. இது குறித்த செய்தி எதுவும் தமிழ் நாளிதழ்கள் எதிலும் வெளியாகவில்லை என்பது கவனிக்கத் தக்கது.

After holding a series of meetings with small and medium level hosiery unit owners, whose livelihood is at stake following closure of 729 dyeing and bleach ing units, it was resolved to highlight the issue during the elec tions.
He said the committee comprised 18 members, who were industrial unit owners in and around Tirupur, without any political leanings.
All of them want the vexatious dyeing issue be solved.
“Since assembly elections came in handy for us, we decided to cash in on the opportunity as none of the political parties takes any interest in solving the dyeing issue which hampers the lifeline of the knitwear capital,” he said.
Already 350 candidates have been selected.
Candidates are mobilizing deposit amount for their candidature all by themselves and there is no compulsion from the committee, Annadurai added.

In a novel initia tive, the newlyformed Tirupur Industrial Protection Committee has decided to field 1,000 candidates in a single constituency during the assembly elections. R.
