தலைவர்களின் சொத்து மதிப்பு : மிரட்சி ஏற்படுத்தும் பட்டியல்கள்

தேர்தல் பிரச்சாரம் சூடு பிடிக்கத் தொடங்கியிருக்கிறது. வேட்பு மனுத் தாக்கல் முடிவுக்கு வரும் நேரம் இது. வேட்பு மனுத் தாக்கல் செய்பவர்கள் சொத்துப் பட்டியலை வெளியிட்டாக வேண்டிய சூழல். ஒரு மனைவிக்கு மேல் திருமண உறவு கொண்டுள்ளோர், மனைவிகளது சொத்துப் பட்டியலையும் வெளியிட வேண்டும். இவை யாவும், சட்டப் படி அரசிடம் ஒப்புக் கொள்ளப் பட்ட சொத்துகளின் பட்டியல்.
நியூ இந்தியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் மு கருணாநிதியின் மனைவியர், த்யாளு, ராசாத்தி ஆகிய் இருவரின் சொத்துகளையும்  வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

In the affidavit, Karunanidhi has said that Rajathi Ammal has availed of a loan of Rs 1,01,76,503 from her daughter Kanimozhi. Rajathi Ammal had more assets than Dayalu Ammal, according to the affidavit. While Rajathi Ammal had movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 23,97,00,552, Dayalu Ammal had Rs 15,45,36,363. As far as Karunanidhi was concerned, his total assets were worth Rs 4,92,56,855. The total assets of the three put together stood at Rs 44,34,93,770.Karunanidhi also declared that he was not imprisoned for two or more years for any crime. However, he said a case was pending against him in a court in Adhoni in Andhra Pradesh. The case was filed for creating rivalry between various sections of the society (IPC 298, 153 (A) and 505 (2). Like many other leaders, Karunanidhi too did not own a car. But his wife Dayalu Ammal had a Honda Accord car worth Rs 16,02,321.According to the Income Tax returns filed for the year 200910, Karunanidhi had shown an income of Rs 37,34,020. Similarly, Dayalu Ammal and Rajathi Ammal's incomes were shown to be Rs 64,37,330 and Rs 1,67,94,106, respectively.

Vijayakant owes over Rs.7.52-crore tax arrears

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijayakant owes over Rs.7.52 crore by way of income-tax and property tax arrears. His wife V. Premalatha owes over Rs.1.72 crore on both counts.

Mr. Vijayakant has stated this in the affidavit attached to the nomination filed for Rishivandhiyam Assembly constituency on Thursday. He has noted that appeals are pending in these cases. He also has liability of over Rs.2.53 crore in the form of loans obtained from banks/financial institutions.

He has put the value of his movable assets at Rs.9.04 crore and immovable assets, Rs.10.83 crore (present market value); that of Ms. Premalatha at Rs.1.28 crore and Rs.5.28 crore; his first dependant Vijay Prabakaran – Rs.81.91 lakh and Rs.43.33 lakh; his second dependant Shanmugha Pandian – Rs.28.28 lakh (he has no fixed assets in his name).

Mr. Vijayakant owns shares or investment worth Rs.74.99 lakh in Andal Alagar Kalayana Mandapam (P) Ltd, and Rs.2.93 crore in Captain Farms (P) Ltd. Ms. Premalatha has shares worth Rs.1 crore in Captain Media (P) Ltd. A defamation case is pending against him.

மதுரை மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள 10 தொகுதிகளுமே  (மேலூர், மதுரை கிழக்கு, சோழவந்தான் (தனி), மதுரை வடக்கு, மதுரை தெற்கு, மதுரை மத்தி, மதுரை மேற்கு, திருப்பரங்குன்றம், திருமங்கலம், மற்றும் உசிலம்பட்டி,), செலவு வயப் படத்தக்கவை என்று தேர்தல் ஆணையம் வகைப் படுத்தியுள்ளதாக தி இந்து நாளிதழில் மட்டும் இன்று 18 03 2010 செய்தி வெளியாகியுள்ளது. இதனைத் தேர்தல் ஆணையம் "Expenditure Sensitive" என்ற தொடரால் வகைப் படுத்தியுள்ளது. இதனைத் தமிழ் நாளிதழ்கள் எப்படி மொழிபெயர்க்கப் போகின்றனவோ என்ற பதற்றமும் எங்கள் மாணவர்கள் மத்தியில் உள்ளது. இந்தச் செய்தி தமிழ் நாளிதழ்கள் எதிலும் இடம்பெறவில்லை.

All Madurai constituencies billed ‘expenditure sensitive'

MADURAI: All 10 Assembly constituencies in Madurai district have been declared “expenditure sensitive” by the Election Commission of India.
The constituencies are Melur, Madurai East, Sholavandan (Reserve), Madurai North, Madurai South, Madurai Central, Madurai West, Tirupparankundram, Tirumangalam and Usilampatti.
Already, an observer in the rank of Additional Director General of Police, Dinesh Pande, has been interacting with various government agencies in-charge of election duty and holding meetings with representatives of parties. He has toured many districts in the south zone.
According to District Collector C. Kamaraj, seven observers have been allotted for the district, including two expenditure observers. All candidates and party functionaries are expected to strictly adhere to the norms on filing of statement of accounts with the observers.
The district administration has formed several teams consisting of staff accompanied by videographers. They will independently assess expenses incurred by parties and candidates and file their observations, with evidence, in CD format as directed by the Election Commission, Mr. Kamaraj said. Training has been imparted to master trainers.
During by-elections held in Tirumangalam, Madurai West and Madurai Central constituencies, officials had seized cash and other freebies/gifts.
All public sector and private banks have been instructed to keep a tab on withdrawals/deposits of huge amounts in cash. Check posts have been provided with round-the-clock personnel.
Mr. Kamaraj appealed to the public carrying cash or any other commodities to produce sufficient proof of evidence to officials on election duty.
Early on Wednesday, a private car was intercepted at a check post in Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency. A check revealed that a passenger was in possession of international currencies. When proof of withdrawal supported by bank documents was produced the car was allowed to proceed, officials said.Source : The Hindu website

Patturajan denies charge

CHENNAI: The former Madurai Mayor, M. Patturajan, on Wednesday denied a charge contained in a U.S. diplomatic cable, accessed by The Hindu through WikiLeaks, that he had acknowledged that voters were bribed in a by-election in Tamil Nadu in January 2009.

Terming the charge “utterly false,” he said he had not met Frederick J. Kaplan, the official of the U.S. Consulate-General, Chennai, who had authored the cable. “Till date, I have not seen, nor do I know Mr. Kaplan, to whom it is reported I have acknowledged giving bribes to voters,” he said.

He claimed that the message was released to “create a bad name for him” as he was a “loyal worker of the DMK and a confidant of top leaders of the DMK… The Chief Minister [M. Karunanidhi] and his entire family members have special affection for me,” he added. It was also aimed at tarnishing the image of Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister M.K. Alagiri, he said.
